AI and the Labor Market: Are Millions of Jobs at Risk?

Фото 1 из 1

MIT together with Oak Ridge National Laboratory presented a digital model of the U.S. labor market — Iceberg Index. According to the scientists' calculations, modern AI technologies are already capable of performing tasks that today account for about 11.7% of the entire U.S. workforce — that's roughly 17.7 million jobs and about $1.2 trillion in annual salaries

Importantly, this is not about an immediate replacement of humans, but about which tasks AI can already perform technically. The highest risk group includes routine office work: data entry, administrative accounting, basic analytics, and repetitive processes.
