Meta Lays Off Thousands of Employees for AI

Meta* is preparing massive layoffs: about 8,000 people will be affected. The reason is a sharp increase in investments in artificial intelligence. This year, the company plans to spend about $135 billion on AI — as much as in the previous three years combined.

The company's head Mark Zuckerberg directly says: AI is already raising efficiency so much that one employee can do the work of an entire team.

At the same time, the company began monitoring employees' actions on their computers to train neural networks. Similar layoffs are happening at Amazon, Microsoft and other IT giants.
