Possible Evidence of Ancient Life Found on Mars

A sample from the dried riverbed in Jezero Crater, collected by the Perseverance rover, revealed potential biosignatures—substances that could be the metabolic products of microorganisms.

🔬 Reactions involving iron, phosphorus, sulfur, and organic matter were found in clay and silt. Such a combination often indicates microbial activity.

❗️But: similar minerals can form without life—however, on Earth this requires acidic environments and high temperatures, and such conditions were not found in the Martian samples.
