Star Wars Director Says AI Will Soon Surpass Computer Graphics in Cinema

Gareth Edwards, director of Star Wars and the new Jurassic World, believes that generative AI could become as important a tool for cinema as the camera once was.

In his view, the technology will soon surpass traditional computer graphics and is already helping to find ideas and develop scenes faster.

Edwards compared AI to a "genius billionaire on acid." It can perform almost any task, but the result is sometimes so unpredictable that it surprises even the creators.
