China Deploys AI Kiosks for Primary Medical Care
China's streets now feature AI kiosks that dispense medicine without doctors. The system recognizes faces, connects to the user's electronic medical record, and uses sensors to measure blood pressure, pulse, temperature, oxygen saturation, and other indicators.
The neural network analyzes the data and provides a likely diagnosis, recommendations, and a list of medications, many of which can be purchased directly at the kiosk. The developers claim diagnostic accuracy reaches 85%, and for complex symptoms, the system directs the patient to a doctor.
The first AI 'doctors' are already operating in Beijing and Shanghai. The kiosks are not intended to replace real doctors—they are suitable for mild cases: colds, stress, slightly elevated blood pressure, headaches.
