Woman without a lawyer won a court case — ChatGPT helped her

A California resident, Lynn White, got an eviction ruling overturned when she entrusted her appeal to ChatGPT.

After losing in a jury trial, she gave up lawyers, studied the law with AI, and found a loophole in rules that gave tenants a one-year payment deferral. Besides ChatGPT, she used Perplexity — and spent about $40 per month total.

"It was like a revelation — ChatGPT gave precise answers to complex legal questions," White recalls.
