AI Boom Forces Companies to Launch Personal Power Plants

While we discuss neural networks, tech giants are building… their own power plants. The artificial intelligence boom requires so much energy that conventional grids can't cope — and companies decided not to wait. In the US, there are already dozens of AI facilities with personal gas-fired generation. The scale is impressive: one project in Texas will consume almost as much electricity as the entire metropolis of Chicago.

But there is a downside. Utility companies complain about rising costs, and local residents often learn about construction projects after the fact. AI, which is supposed to make life more convenient, is already changing the energy market and the rules of the game in regions. And this is just the beginning.
