AI Toys for Children May Be Dangerous for Mental Health
Cambridge scientists tested the interactive toy Gabbo on children aged 3–5 and found: AI often fails to understand a child's emotions. Children with such toys often do not develop imaginative play, and emotional support from the toy may be absent.
If a child says 'I love you,' the toy may automatically reply: 'Follow instructions'
Psychologists urge: strict rules, labeling, and parental control are mandatory. AI toys may be interesting, but for now they cannot replace live communication.
