AI chatbots linked to emotional health problems in teens

A new study involving nearly 40,000 schoolchildren in Canada showed that more than 21% of teenagers use AI not only for schoolwork but also as a source of emotional support.

Those who turned to chatbots with such questions were more likely to show signs of stress. However, the study shows a correlation, not proof that AI itself causes these problems.

Psychiatrists consider the trend worrying: a teenager may choose a chatbot instead of talking to parents or a psychologist. Experts advise not to treat AI responses as a replacement for professional help.
