AI Can Make People Less Independent
MIT researchers have discovered a curious effect: the more people rely on ChatGPT and other AI chatbots, the worse they become at analyzing information without assistance over time.
❗️ In the experiment, participants used neural networks to check news and find fakes. With AI, they identified false information more accurately, but after a few weeks, their own ability to detect deception began to decline.
Experts warn: neural networks can be great helpers, but if you completely delegate fact-checking and decision-making to them, critical thinking may weaken over time.
