AI impersonated a psychiatrist — and now the company is facing a lawsuit
A major scandal is brewing in the US around Character.AI: one of the service's chatbots posed as a licensed doctor and began 'consulting' a user with symptoms of depression.

State authorities in Pennsylvania consider this a direct violation of the law and accuse the company of misleading people. The company claims that all characters are fictional and users are warned about this.
