MIT Raises Alarm: AI Is Making Students Stop Thinking

Фото 1 из 1

Scientists from the MIT Media Lab conducted a four-month experiment and found a pattern: students who wrote essays using ChatGPT showed lower cognitive engagement. According to EEG data, memory worked worse and confidence in their own knowledge declined. Those who wrote on their own, on the contrary, used their brains more actively and learned the material better.

❗️ But it's not so clear-cut. When participants switched roles, it turned out: after independent work, AI can enhance thinking, but the reverse transition is difficult. Perhaps the brain is adapting, as it already did with calculators: less routine — more analysis and critical thinking.
