Man made millions from music that no one listened to
In the US, one enterprising user uploaded thousands of songs created by artificial intelligence, then connected bots that 'listened' to these tracks around the clock. As a result, algorithms considered the music popular, and services paid out royalties.
Over several years, the scheme brought him more than $10 million
The money came from a common fund that was supposed to be distributed among real musicians. Now the scheme's author has pleaded guilty and may face several years in prison.
