A man from Leipzig prepared his own defense via ChatGPT and ultimately won the case. He was accused of fraud due to overpayment of benefits — after starting a new job, the money kept coming for about another week. The amount was small, but the consequences could have been serious.

Instead of a lawyer, he decided to handle it himself — with the help of AI. ChatGPT helped him compile a detailed 18-page legal motion, which he submitted to the court.

The outcome: the case was dismissed in his favor. According to the man, it was not about the money but about his reputation: a criminal record could have severely complicated his life.
