Police tried to fine a self-driving taxi — and failed

In San Bruno, California, a police officer stopped a car for making an illegal U-turn. But there was no one behind the wheel — it was a Waymo taxi without a driver.

Issuing a fine turned out to be impossible: the forms simply have no "robot" field for the violator. Waymo said they would review the incident and use it to improve the safety of autonomous vehicles, reports The Guardian.
