Snapchat to Lay Off 1,000 Employees, Citing AI Development
Snap Inc, the company behind Snapchat, announced layoffs of approximately 16% of its workforce—about 1,000 people. Internally, the company explained the decision by saying that AI is developing too quickly and can handle some tasks without human involvement.
At the same time, investors were pressuring management to cut costs and revise strategy. On the back of the news, the company's shares even rose, only adding fuel to the discussion. The question is becoming increasingly acute: is this real progress or just a new way to optimize business?
