Spotify starts distinguishing real artists from AI — and it's no joke
Spotify will now feature a green “Verified” checkmark to show that you're looking at a real artist, not a neural network.
Music platforms are literally being flooded with AI-generated tracks, and it's becoming increasingly difficult to tell a live performer from an algorithm. So the service decided to introduce a “trust mark” — a kind of passport to reality for musicians.
But getting the checkmark isn't easy: you need real listeners, activity, concerts, and a presence outside the platform. Given that almost half of new music is already created by neural networks, the industry is clearly preparing for a new stage.
