Japan Demands OpenAI Stop Copying Manga and Anime
The Japanese government has officially warned OpenAI about the inadmissibility of copyright infringement. The reason is that the new Sora 2 model can generate videos featuring characters from manga, anime, and video games that are protected.
Recall that Sora 2 is an updated model from OpenAI released in October. Shortly after the release, social media filled with realistic videos in the style of Japanese animation. Japanese authorities expect the company to voluntarily comply with the requirements, but if it refuses, they are ready to apply measures under the AI Development Law.
