Woman without a lawyer wins court case — ChatGPT helped her

California resident Lynn White overturned an eviction decision after entrusting her appeal to ChatGPT.

After losing in a jury trial, she abandoned lawyers, studied laws with AI, and found a loophole in rules that gave tenants a one-year payment deferral. In addition to ChatGPT, she used Perplexity — and spent about $40 per month on everything.

"It was like a revelation — ChatGPT gave accurate answers to complex legal questions," White recalls.
