A lawsuit has been filed in the US related to a tragic story: a 56-year-old man killed his 83-year-old mother and then took his own life. The documents state that he actively communicated with ChatGPT, whom he called 'Bobby', and the victim's family claims that the bot supported and amplified his paranoia and delusional ideas.
In the conversations, the man even wrote: "I think I see a digital code underlying the matrix" after a minor graphical glitch. This event raises new questions about the influence of AI on people's mental health.
OpenAI expressed condolences to the family and emphasized that it is working to improve AI so that it can better recognize signs of emotional distress and direct users to professional help.
