AI Helped British Woman Regain Voice After 25 Years of Silence

Artist Sarah Ezekiel from the UK lost her ability to speak due to motor neuron disease 25 years ago. All this time she communicated through an impersonal speech synthesizer.

Recently, engineers from Smartbox and ElevenLabs found an 8-second VHS recording in the family archive where Sarah is speaking. This was enough to restore her real voice.

When the system first spoke words in her own voice, Sarah burst into tears. And her children heard their mother's voice for the first time.
