AI Helped Separate Sisters Born with a Single Skull
Twin girls from Nigeria were born with fused skulls, shared blood vessels, and partially connected brain tissues. Doctors called it one of the most complex cases in modern medicine, but thanks to AI technologies, the sisters were successfully separated.
The preparation for the surgery took several months: specialists from 20 countries used AI and 3D modeling to study the structure of the girls' brains and blood vessels millimeter by millimeter. A total of four operations were required, lasting 40 hours.
Today, the toddlers live a full life, grow up with their family, and are preparing to celebrate their third birthday. This case is yet another reminder that AI is capable not only of creating images and texts but also of helping save human lives 🥹
