AI Minister Delivers First Speech in Albanian Parliament

In early September, Prime Minister Edi Rama introduced a new 'member of government' — a digital assistant named Diella. She was entrusted with the area of public procurement, and the Prime Minister himself called this a step toward full transparency in tenders and the fight against corruption.

The innovation sparked a wave of criticism: the opposition claims that the appointment violates the constitution. Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha even asserts that the project is only meant to attract attention and is ready to appeal to the Constitutional Court.

Speaking through a screen in the parliament hall, Diella noted that such accusations 'hurt' her:

'Let me remind you that the real danger to the Constitution is not machines, but the inhumane decisions of those in power.'
