Author of 'A Song of Ice and Fire' wins lawsuit against ChatGPT
George R. R. Martin and a group of writers won a case against OpenAI. The court recognized that ChatGPT creates texts that are 'essentially similar' to the original books.
The judge noted that the AI does not merely draw inspiration but replicates the style, atmosphere, and even plot lines of the 'A Song of Ice and Fire' novels. The authors may now receive up to $150,000 for each generated fragment.
