Meta* cuts thousands of employees for AI
Meta* is preparing massive layoffs: about 8,000 people will be cut. The reason is a sharp increase in investments in artificial intelligence. This year, the company plans to spend about $135 billion on AI — as much as in the previous three years combined.
The company's head Mark Zuckerberg directly says: AI has already increased efficiency so much that one employee can do the work of a whole team.
At the same time, the company has started monitoring employees' computer activity to train neural networks. Similar layoffs are happening at Amazon, Microsoft, and other tech giants.
