Microsoft Massively Lays Off Employees While Betting on AI
Microsoft announced a cut of 4,800 employees — about 2% of its total workforce.
The biggest blow fell on the Xbox gaming division: over the next two years, about 3,200 people will lose their jobs, some game studios will become independent, and others may even close.
Microsoft specifically emphasized that the laid-off employees will not be directly replaced by neural networks. However, management acknowledged that the company is investing billions of dollars in AI development.
